With summer right around the corner, everyone is beginning the race to get in shape. This season, the ImageLift® team would like to encourage you to be your best self, inside and out! These 10 easy and fun tips will keep you healthy and smiling all summer long.

1. Outdoor Exercisesoutdoor exercise pushup

You spent all summer bundled up and bottled up indoors, (especially if you live in the Northeast.) Now it’s time to take advantage of the sun and warm weather. Outside you can find so many creative exercises using a bench or a tree for example that will work muscles you didn’t even know you have. Check out these unique exercises you can do in the sun.

2. Healthy BBQ bbq friendsWho doesn’t love a good barbecue with a group of friends on a warm summer night? At parties especially, it’s so easy to eat everything and anything in sight. No need to watch what you are eating at your next barbecue, these healthy recipes will make sure you are feeling great all summer long.

You would be surprised how many different local events and activities are held right in your own town or city. It is a great opportunity to try something new and different. For example, a lot of towns hold yoga classes in the park, do group hikes, or have kayak or a paddle boards available to rent for the day. You won’t even realize all the calories you are burning in the mean time while you are trying to conquer a new task.

Grab your best friend, your biggest motivator; someone who will push you to do that extra rep of sit-ups and together you guys can do a partner workout. It won’t even feel like a workout when you are laughing with someone you enjoy.

Summer is the time to get a group of friends, make a team and sign up for a race together. From the famous Color Run (fun for all ages and fitness levels, where you get blasted with color bombs as you go through the run,) to the dreaded Tough Mudder (a 10-12 mile team orientated obstacle course that tests all of your limits.) Check out the summer races in your local area!

6. Get Active Throughout the Dayriding bikes

This may seem like a small thing but the more you are up and moving the more calories you can burn throughout the day and increase your Basal Metabolic Rate. Grab your sneakers and go for a walk by the water, or switch it up by walking to a place that you would usually drive to; take your bike down and enjoy a ride on a near by path. These small actions will help you get in shape before you know it!

7. Make Your Own Smoothiessmoothie

On a hot summer day nothing is as refreshing as a cold smoothie. Time to get creative, grab a blender and some of your favorite fruits and even vegetables, no recipe needed. Follow the basic template of plain Greek yogurt, some skim milk, a couple ice cubes, and throw in your fruits and veggies; blend until smooth. You’ll have your new favorite drink and no need to feel guilty about indulging in such a deliciousness…this is nothing but healthy!

8. Join a League tennis Joining a league is another way to be committed each week. Whether it’s softball, soccer or tennis you can find a league you will love to be apart of.  It could be a sport you’ve never played or one you mastered in your local town, there are all different levels of leagues.

9. Spice Up a Salad salad

We all know how great salads are for you; but sometimes we get the case of the salad blues. We dread the familiar, boring lettuce, tomato and cucumber in our salads. Fear no more! Here is another opportunity to get creative. Think of your favorite style of food and make that into a salad! Can’t get enough of tacos? Grab brown rice, spinach, and grilled chicken or lean ground beef and top with some tomatoes and avocado. Take a look at these simple and unique salads.
